Variation for Photoperiod and Temperature Sensitivity in the Global Mini Core Collection of Sorghum

چکیده

Information on photoperiod and temperature sensitivity of sorghum germplasm is important to identify appropriate sources for developing cultivars with a broad adaptation. The mini core collection consisting 242 accessions along three control were evaluated days 50% flowering (DFL) plant height in two long-day rainy short-day post-rainy seasons, grain yield 100-seed weight the seasons. Differences DFL cumulative growing degree (CGDD) seasons used classify sensitivity. Results revealed 18 landraces as insensitive (PTINS), 205 sensitive (PSTINS), 19 temperature-sensitive (PTS) sources. PTS 80 PSTINS took less than season indicating their adaptation possible different mechanism that trigger sorghums. In all groups, several desirable combinations agronomic traits identified use breeding programs develop climate-resilient genomic studies genes responsible responses.

Variation in the U.S. Photoperiod Insensitive Sorghum Collection for Chemical and Nutritional Traits

Screening germplasm for chemical and nutritional content can be expensive and time consuming. Near infrared spectroscopy (NIRS) and application of geostatistical models can make screening more efficient. The objectives of this study were to utilize these technologies to: (i) generate chemical and nutritional values for the U.S. photoperiod insensitive sorghum collection, (ii) describe variabili...

Association mapping of height and maturity across five environments using the sorghum mini core collection.

Sorghum is a potential energy crop thanks to its high biomass productivity and low input. Biomass yield in sorghum is defined by height and maturity. To develop molecular breeding tools for genetic improvement of these two traits, we have identified simple sequence repeat markers linked to height and maturity using a pool-based association mapping technique. The sorghum mini core collection was...

The Sorghum Photoperiod Sensitivity Gene , Ma , , Encodes a Phytochrome B '

The Ma, gene is one of six genes that regulate the photoperiodic sensitivity of flowering in sorghum (Sorghum bicolor [L.] Moench). The masR mutation of this gene causes a phenotype that is similar to plants that are known to lack phytochrome B, and masR sorghum lacks a 123-kD phytochrome that predominates in light-grown plants and that is present in non-magR plants. A population segregating fo...

The sorghum photoperiod sensitivity gene, Ma3, encodes a phytochrome B.

The Ma3 gene is one of six genes that regulate the photoperiodic sensitivity of flowering in sorghum (Sorghum bicolor [L.] Moench). The ma3R mutation of this gene causes a phenotype that is similar to plants that are known to lack phytochrome B, and ma3 sorghum lacks a 123-KD phytochrome that predominates in light-grown plants and that is present in non-ma3 plants. A population segregating for ...

Genetic variation of maturity groups and four E genes in the Chinese soybean mini core collection

The mini core collection (MCC) has been established by streamlining core collection (CC) chosen from China National Genebank including 23,587 soybean (Glycine max) accessions by morphological traits and simple sequence repeat (SSR) markers. Few studies have been focused on the maturity that has been considered as one of the most critical traits for the determination of the adaptation-growing re...
